Somatic Techniques to Soothe your Nervous System

Muscle Relaxation

Squeeze individual muscles, moving from head to toe.

Hold for 5 seconds then release for 5 seconds.

Notice the tension and the release as you move through your body.

Shaking

Rise up tall, soften your knees, and bounce and shake.

Let the vibration move through your body as you discharge built-up tension and trapped emotions.

Lean in to the sense of liberation and relief.

Swaying

Plant your feet hip-width apart and loosen your body as you gently move side to side.

Feel the flowing movements and allow emotions to surface.

Butterfly Tapping

Cross your arms across your chest and alternate lightly tapping your shoulders.

Embrace the nurturing sense of safety as you follow your butterfly wherever it leads.
