Coping skills group for anxiety, mood, and boundaries

Led by Shana Gary, LCSW-A, our virtual skills group teaches practical tools for anxiety, stress, strong emotions, low mood, and communication. Each session is a mix of teaching, practice, and honest conversation, and you choose how much you share.

This group may be a good fit if you

feel anxious, stressed, or overwhelmed and want tools that work in real life

struggle with strong emotions or low motivation

find it hard to speak up, say no, or set boundaries

want to learn alongside others instead of on your own

This group will cover four areas

Anxiety and stress: understand your body’s stress response, spot your triggers, and build grounding and calming skills.

Emotional regulation: name what you’re feeling, notice your patterns, and practice handling intense emotions without being swept away.

Low mood and getting re-engaged: see how your mood, thoughts, and actions affect each other, and take small steps toward activities that matter to you.

Communication and boundaries: say what you need, set limits that hold, and handle difficult conversations with more confidence.

Check in: a quick, low-pressure look at how you’re doing and what’s happened since last time.

Learn: a short, clear lesson on the week’s topic, with examples and visuals.

Practice: hands-on skills such as grounding, breathing, mindfulness, or gentle movement. All movement is optional.

Talk it through: the group shares what worked, what felt hard, and how to use the skills in daily life.

Wrap up: you pick one skill to try before the next session.

Group and individual therapy

This group teaches skills, and it doesn’t replace individual therapy if you need more focused care. Many people do both, and what you learn here can support your work with a therapist. If you’d like individual support, see our therapists.
