8-week men’s group on dating and relationships

This 8-week virtual group facilitated by Marilyn Minton, LCSW-A supports men in building relationships that are mutual, respectful, and true to their values.

This group is for adult men who:

keep running into the same problems in dating or relationships

find it hard to talk about feelings, ask for what they need, or let someone get close

struggle with rejection, breakups, or uncertainty about where things stand

want to change how they show up as a partner

seeing your patterns, triggers, and what you need in relationships

understanding your emotions and responding instead of reacting

spotting the beliefs and stories that shape how you date

showing up authentically, and learning what masculinity and emotional expression mean to you

communicating clearly and setting healthy boundaries

handling rejection, breakups, and disappointment in ways you can respect yourself for

choosing partners and relationships that fit your values

making a plan to keep growing after the group ends

Over eight weeks, you’ll move from “why does this keep happening?” toward “how do I build the kind of relationship I want, and be the kind of partner I want to be?” You’ll work on

Each 90-minute session has a familiar flow. You check in, review last week’s practice, learn one key idea, try it through a guided exercise, then talk about what came up. Each week ends with something concrete to try before the next one. You can pass on any exercise or question, and you share only what you’re comfortable with.

  • Do I have to be dating to join? No. Past relationships and what you want ahead are just as relevant.

  • Is this therapy? It’s a skills-based group led by a licensed clinician. It teaches practical tools, and it isn’t a substitute for individual treatment.

  • Will I have to share personal things? No. You can take part by listening, practicing, and sharing as much or as little as you like.

  • Can I join if I’m already in therapy? Yes, of course!

  • Is it confidential? Members agree to keep the group’s conversations private. Your facilitator explains the limits of confidentiality at the start.

  • Can I use my insurance? Yes, we can submit claims to BCBS, Aetna, and Medcost. The self-pay fee is $20 per session.

  • What do I need to join? A private space, a device with video and audio, and an internet connection.

Questions

Group and individual therapy

This group teaches skills, and it doesn’t replace individual therapy if you need more focused care. Many people do both, and what you learn here can support your work with a therapist. If you’d like individual support, see our therapists.
